Baked Chicken Drumsticks Recipe
This is a healthy chicken drumsticks recipe that makes use of few pantry ingredients.
The cooking process is simple, you only just need to season, marinate and bake and you get flavorful baked chicken legs that can be served with any sides of your choice.
This recipe gives you tender and moist inside with a golden brown crispy outer skin. You can't go wrong with this easy chicken recipe.
Ingredients
Chicken drumsticks
Paprika
Parsley
Black pepper
Garlic powder/granules
Onion powder
Curry powder
Oil - Olive oil, vegetable or sunflower oil.
Salt
You can also use any of your favorite seasonings. I like to use ready mix homemade seasonings like this chicken seasoning, jerk seasoning, and suya spice.
How long to cook chicken drumsticks in the oven
It takes a total of 50 minutes to bake in the oven at a temperature of 200C/400F. To check if chicken is cooked through and safe to eat, you can use meat thermometer to check. Insert the meat thermometer and if the temperature is atleast 165F, the chicken is safe to eat.
How to Bake Chicken Drumsticks
Clean and pat the drumsticks dry with a paper towel.
Add the chicken drumsticks into a bowl then add the paprika, parsley, curry powder, black pepper, garlic granules, onion powder, and olive oil. Mix well, cover with clingfilm, and put in the fridge to marinate for 45 minutes.
If you don't have the time to marinate for that long, move to the next step immediately after seasoning the chicken.
Arrange the marinated chicken on a parchment/baking paper-lined oven tray.
Bake the chicken drumsticks in the oven at a temperature of 200C for 50 minutes. After the first 25 minutes, bring out of the oven and turn to the other side then return to the oven to bake for the remaining 25 minutes.
Bring out of the oven and leave to rest for 5 minutes then serve and enjoy.

Potato sides like boiled potatoes, mashed potates and roast potatoes
Rice dishes like fried rice, jollof rice

Storage Information
To store, leave to cool completely then put in an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave. To reheat in the oven, place chicken on an oven tray and bake at a temperature of 375C for 15 minutes or till heated through.
Tips
- After baking the chicken, you can toss in sauces like buffalo sauce, bbq sauce, lemon pepper sauce, or any sauce of your choice.
- You can double the recipe but don't pile the chicken on each other on the tray.
